God the All

May 12, 2007

The Valley of Vision is a collection of prayers and devotions by Puritans, like Baxter, Bunyan, Brainard, Shepherd, Watts, and others. Here is part of one I recently read:

There is no comfort in anything apart from enjoying thee and being engaged in they service. Thou are All in all, and all enjoyments are what to me thou makest them, and no more…. I long to make some return, but have nothing to offer, I can only rejoice that thou doest all.

If you do not own The Valley of Vision I encourage you get a copy of it and read it frequently to see how greater minds thought of God.
